Chocolate and Peanut Butter have to be one the most successful marriages I’ve come across in a long time.
Their understanding, the way they compliment each other, its a thing of envy. Once you’re in their presence, you can’t help but realize that they are a power couple and there is very little you can do to not get hooked to them.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares are extremely addictive, and very hard to escape since they are ridiculously easy to make and involve absolutely no baking. The routine of walking by your fridge, opening the door, locating these squares and popping one in your mouth every few hours, is an extremely normal thing. I assure you.
Also, these treats are the easiest things to whip up on weekend and impress folks around you.
With no pain involved.
Score!
I’m sorry for doing this to you, but I need to introduce you to the Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares
Serves : 1, who is in need of instant gratification.
Difficulty : Easy Peasy. When that MS fellow in Amreeka can make it too, why can’t you?
Preparation Time : 2-3 minutes.
Cook Time : 7-10 minutes + a couple of hours to refrigerate.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 50 grams + 2tbsp butter
- 300-350 grams of chocolate chips
In a big reassuring bowl, dunk in the sugars, peanut butter and regular butter.
Beat them all together for 3-4 minutes till it forms a uniform, consistent and creamy paste and smells incredibly peanut butter-y.
Pick up absolutely any dish, and line it with butter paper. Unless you want to be an absolute scatter brain like me, and realize you don’t have any butter paper after you’ve started off preparing this treat and use aluminum foil like me. Grease it with a tiny amount of butter.
Put the peanut butter mixture in this dish, and press it down into a uniform layer. Make it as uniform at the top as possible.
Now, we need to melt the chocolate.
We need two utensils for this. Get hold of a bowl which fits over any other the mouth of any other vessel. Fill this vessel with water, and place the bowl over the mouth of the vessel. Make sure the bowl doesn’t touch water at all. This system is called the double broiler.
We dunk the chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of butter in the bowl, which will melt as the water in the vessel below boils.
Keep stirring from time to time. In a matter of 3-4 minutes, you’ll see that its all melted into a wonderful chocolate paste.
Finally, pour this molten chocolate over the peanut butter mixture. Spread it uniformly again.
Throw own a few crushed peanuts on the top, if you want.
You don’t really absolutely have to. No pressure.
Let it refrigerate till this sets.
In a few hours, take out the dish and let it come back to room temperature so you can easily take out the big batch of squares.
At that point, all you need to do is cut them up into little squares, and enjoy. 🙂
Oh, you wonderful rich chocolate and peanut butter fix, you.
